Australia Skilled Independent Visa Subclass 189

The Skilled Independent Visa subclass 189 is a general skilled immigration visa that is permanent and does not require sponsorship from a relative or an Australian State or Territory government.

You must first submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) profile through Skill Select in order to apply for this visa, and you must receive permission from the Immigration to Apply Department.

Your visa application must be submitted within 60 days of receiving the invitation or it will expire. As soon as you receive the invitation, you should gather all the information and paperwork needed to submit your visa application.

Visa Eligibility Criteria

    In order to qualify for visa subclass 189, a candidate must:
  • Register your Expression of Interest (EOI) profile to receive an application invitation.
  • Meet the minimum score of 65 points in the skilled migration points test.
  • Being between the ages of 18 and 44.
  • Satisfy the moral and physical standards.
  • Meet the criteria for proficient English language use.
  • Any occupation on the Occupations List for Independent Visas must pass the assessment.

This visa option doesn't involve sponsorship from an Australian state or territory or a family member.

Duration and Conditions

Permanent visa holders with the Skilled Independent Visa subclass 189 are able to reside and work in Australia for an extended period of time.

You and your sponsored family members must visit Australia before your police and health clearances expire if you are outside of Australia when your visa is granted.

Skilled State Nominated Visa Subclass 190

The State/Territory Government of Australia must nominate an applicant for the permanent general skilled migration visa type known as the Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190.

You must first submit your Expression of Interest (EOI) profile through Skill Select and receive the invitation to apply from the Immigration to Apply Department in order to apply for a Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190.

Visa Eligibility Criteria

  • In order to qualify for visa subclass 189, a candidate must:

It is good for four years. A State/Territory Government or a relative who resides in a Designated Area of Australia must sponsor you.

  • Pass the skills test for any profession on the applicable Skilled Occupation List.

Duration and Conditions

The Skilled Regional Provisional Visa Subclass 491 is a 4-year provisional visa. It allows you and your included family members to live, study, and work in only approved regional areas of Australia. The approved regions depend on whether you are sponsored by a State/Territory Government or by a relative.

If sponsored by a:
  • Relative: You are only permitted to reside in Australia's designated regions.
  • State/Territory Government: You can only reside in Australia's regional or low-growth zones.

Australia has designated locations such as Canberra, Melbourne, and the Gold Coast as significant cities. They are often wider than Australia's regional or low-growth districts.

You and your sponsored family members must be present if you are outside of Australia when your visa is granted.
